New York Department of Transportation
I-287 Stage III Reconstruction
The New York State Department of Transportation's four year reconstruction project on Interstate 287, a major east-west highway in Westchester County, New York, required significant shifts in road access, blasting, temporary exit and ramp configurations and other changes that posed challenges to motorists on this congested roadway. ASC developed an online outreach tool to mitigate some of those inconveniences by clarifying the construction plans, providing a mechanism for weekly updates, and building out an interactive map that offered details on the extensive project.
Features
- New Website (www.i287.info) supported outreach to motorists and stakeholders
- Travel advisory and interactive map offered construction details
- Areas of public concern, including landscaping plans, were detailed and illustrated
- Criticism in the media ebbed following release of new Website
