Tappan Zee Bridge/I-287 Environmental Review Process, Public outreach and media relations, NYS DOT, NYS Thruway Authority, MTA-Metro-North Railroad

The single biggest project affecting the future of the Mid-Hudson Region in metropolitan New York. This regional study seeks to improve mobility within the I-287 corridor, between Suffern and Rockland, and to address structural issues related to the Tappan-Zee Bridge.

Challenge: Strategic planning and counsel on positioning along with media and public outreach program development to inform, involve and engage the public in this key Major Investment Study.

Solution: Arch Street has provided nearly continuous counsel on strategic engagement at every level of the project, with significant results. Most recently we led a branding effort on the project, with a comprehensive overhaul of materials to re-energize public outreach, including presentations, Web site, print materials and exhibits.

Results: A strong and sustained public outreach effort has contributed significantly to the development of an engaged and active public, with solid meeting attendance, frequent commentary and steady increases in Web site visits.
